I have the M201C, that's the "Improved Tokarev" I just got from Marstar. Are You supposed to be able to rack the slide back when the gun is half cocked?

I can't, the slide wont move and I can't put the safety on when it's at half ####. The disconnector will not move down.

At half ####, the sear has a cube of metal that moves in and stops the disconnector from moving down (and hence is jamming the slide and safety). It appears to be designed this way but untll I cleaned all the swarf out of the trigger, I could rack the slide at half ####.

Fully cocked and uncocked, it's fine.

Anyone?

I took the safety out and threw it away.....well into my parts bin

the tok's never came with a safety and i had nothing but trouble with mine
Works great without it
But mine is not a norinco its a yugo from marstar

Ritchie,

The M-201C does prevent cocking of the slide while the hammer is engaged in the 'half ####' position. It will also not drop when the trigger is depressed. The hammer must first be brought to the 'fully cocked' position before it will be released by the trigger.

Hope this helps,

- Peter

I wish there was more in the way of books, documents, or websites about the tokarev pistol family. I still can't figure out why my Type 54-1 racks with ease, while my NP-17's require that I #### the hammer first before I rack the slides.

Thanks for all the replies, I'm happy now.

I was just confused as to why I could move the slide when half cocked before I cleaned all the crap out (there was a few bits of swarf) obviously that let the sear come forward to it's intended position under the disconnect.

Thanks guys!

schick, mine was like that also, I had to haul the slide like a bear to get it to cycle from an uncocked hammer. The end of the slide catches a flat at the base of the hammer, I simply honed the flat to a dome and it cycles nicely.

these Norinco's are cheap but BOY are they ever rough. Still, I got no complaints as I was expecting them to need some tuning. At the cost, there's not much risk. :D

This guy is Really hard to rack the slide.
