I am interested in buying a box of 440 7.62x54r ammo

It is silver tip with the box ID of 09-71-10 ( the 10 is in 2 circles like so ((10)) more or less.

Followed by a BT with a 3 over 71 ( 3/71)
I read somewhere this is bulgarian and also highly dangerous ? Please clarify

I have a crate of “circle 10”. It’s Bulgarian ammo unless made before like 1945 I think (there was a Russian factory with the code 10 but I don’t think they used the circle). Anyway, is it safe to shoot? Depends is your firearm safe? What are you shooting it out off? Mosin you should be fine. I’ve shot it out of an SVT-40 but it appears much hotter than the commercial ammo I have. Had the gas Reg set to 1.1 and it cycled 9/10.
Recap
Hotter than commercial
Mild steel core
147gr (I’m pretty sure)
Corrosive, clean well!
Questions?

Sounds on point. Try the ammo in a Mosin first. If your concerned prop it up on a rest at the range and pull the trigger while standing back with some gloves on and your glasses of course.

Also for future reference the 3 number sequence you posted (09-71-10) tells you lot/series - year of production - factory code
So your case is lot #9 made in 1971 by factory 10. The other numbers you mentioned have to do with the powder. BT is a type of powder I believe and 3 is the lot/series of powder and 71 is the year of production of powder.

Don't shoot it! Your gun will explode in your face!!
Sell it to me for 10 cents a round - I'll buy it all just to keep you safe!!!

On the other hand, shoot it and have a good time with the silvertip ammo, just make sure you clean up because it is corrosive. My silvertip ammo is under lock and key waiting for a SHTF event. I buy all the silvertip ammo I can find because it's way better than that Chinese crap.

got a crate 880 rounds of this stuff squirreled away myself.

Ok thanks guy, I appreciate the input and feedback. I brought up the term "dangerous ammo" due to a pdf I was reading which was talking about all the 7.62 variants and there factory ID'S.
I believe I saw ((10)) followed by "DO NOT SHOOT HIGHLY DANGEROUS" but I cant recall 100% as I cant find the pdf again to verify

What is 440 rounds of this stuff in 1 spam can worth honestly.....
The guy wants 200$ plus I pay for shipping so probably another 75 bucks ... should I go lower on the price and offer like 150 or something ?

the shipping is 65$ to have it shipped to my house putting the price at 265 for 440 rounds = 60 cents a round...……..still worth it??
Shipping is a killer. Back in the days of Greyhound I received a few cases of "tractor parts" but alas those days are gone.
Personally I'd jump on the ammo is it wasn't for the shipping otherwise it may be time to look for a local deal. Silvertip is out there but sometimes hard to find so I buy it when I see it. Also, 60 cents a round ain't bad and who knows the next time you'll find it...
You can always buy Chinese ammo from a dealer local to you - just watch out for the repackaged Chinese ammo that looks to be Czech but isn't.
