Not drilled and tapped so likely made before about 1950.
If you go to savage99.com they have a database you can plug your serial into and find your D.O.M.

Sure it was, with one of them Pachmayer swing over mounts, for the life of me I don't understand why they even invented them things.

EG's in 300 Savage are like a Winchester 94 in 30-30, very common.

Those swingaway mounts are in a league with the see-through style rings. I've seen them lots on Win 88's too for some reason.

I know two guys with them and neither of them have ever swung them out of the way for the irons.

I started a thread a couple years ago asking if anyone who had see-throughs had ever actually used their iron sights to shoot game. Basically, no. Pretty much no-one. Heck, if you have time to choose, you'll use the scope. If you had no time to choose, you never would have got the critter with irons or optics.

I had a borrowed Model 88 Winchester in 1975 with Weaver tip-off mounts. That scope never shot the same way twice.

Later I bought see-through mounts for my Remington Model 700 243. Never ever used them to shoot game.

I used to have a 99F in 300 Sav that had those mounts on it.

Was tracking a buddies buck one morning and the damn thing jumped up at about 25 yds, went to the irons and popped him right in the vitals, bang flop.
