I removed the stock pistol grip from my CZ 858-2 rifle this morning so that I
could mount a new FAB pistol grip.

When I loosened the screw holding the grip on, I heard a part fall inside the
grip just before I took the grip off the rifle. I thought it was the square nut that the screw threads into but as I was putting it all back together, I found a pin on my lap that appears to be part of the rifle.

Here's a picture of the pin:

I've searched the rifle end to end and can't find anything out of place. Does anyone recognize the pin as a component of the rifle? If so, can you please advise where it belongs?

Thanks

The top cover pin is roughly 3-4 times larger in diameter than the pin in the picture and it has a head on one end with two grooves on the shaft.

The length of the pin in the picture is almost exactly the same width as the lower part of the receiver and the nibs you see on the ends are about 1mm larger than the end of the firing pin - I thought it was the firing pin at first but it's too big to be the firing pin and the firing pin is still in place.

I checked the receiver and all of the pins are in place. The only reason I'm thinking it's part of the rifle is because of the dimensions and the colour of the parkerizing - identical to the colour of the dust cover pin. That and the fact that I found it while reassembling the rifle.

its the pin that keeps the top cover locking pin from falling out .

completely pull out the top cover locking pin , you will see a hole from the top right side at the rear of the receiver , thats where it goes in but before you put it in , make sure the sear spring is in place, its the weird looking spring at the bottom rear , stick in the pin you found and hold it down then slide the top cover pin in.

Thanks guys.

I apologize for not reading the first response more carefully.

I imagine the rest of you already know about it but for those that don't, here's the URL:
