My buddy sent me these pics & asked what model it is.
He says he can find no writing other than the number shown


 
Yeah, that's what it is, most likely.

If your buddy wants to know for sure, tell him to lift up the Bolt Handle and look at what is marked on the Butt Socket, that steel part that guys call the "strap". It is actually part of the FRAME of the rifle and it is where manufacturing data (make, model and year) was marked on most rifles between about 1895 and 1968.
 
The (partial) serial number appears to be 56250. Usually there is a letter stamped over the number; the fact that there is no letter suggest it is very early run rifle. As smelle notes, the year, model number and factory will be on the strap.

They look a little flimsy but the TO weaver base mounts actually work quite well.
