Good day GunNutz! I am currently trying to plan a m14 variant and I am wanting to start on a Lrb m25 receiver. who have you guys used to import? Do I have to contact Lrb and buy direct and have it shipped somewhere and then to me? Im looking for someone who doesnt mind me picking their brain and bugging them with build questions and such.. Any help I can get is always really appreciated!!

Thanks in advance!

John.

I know I run guns and or prophet river import things if you find what you want they can help with the paperwork and such. Armtac sells built lrb stuff I hear there hard to get a hold of sometimes by some of the people but I can't say I personally have ever tried. If it was me I'd just buy a built one much easier to sell a full pedigree then a mismatched built but that's my opinion. I dunno maybe 45acpking and tactical teacher(hungry) will chime in. They seem to be the go to guys I'm even thinking of trying to get a hold of 45acpking to build me something.

You can either buy parts and have a builder in Canada assemble the rifle, or you can order a complete rifle yourself from LRB. I had mine built by LRB, minus a mcmillan stock. Since LRB doesn't have a export license, you will need a 3ed party to export the rifle. I used IrunGuns, and the service from the was excellent. Furthermore, they did it around a months time. In this case you simply call up LRB, make your order, then fill out some forms with IrunGuns, and have LRB ship it to them in the states. IrunGuns then brings it across the boarder, bills you for their service, duties, and shipping to you.

LRB was great to deal with, but be adviced their warrenty is only a year, and well, when you have to deal with sending your rifle across the boarder, you really don't have a warrenty. Understand the terms and risks before you buy.

Unless you'll be building this rifle yourself and have a full parts kit on hand, I'd suggest you let them build you a complete rifle. You'll only cry once...

IRunGuns is a great business. I dealt with them back when our dollar was strong and had an excellent experience with them.

Thankfully their outstanding initial quality results in their warranty just about never needing to be used. If you're at all concerned, go with a minimum of a barreled action and you'll have confidence that you won't run into problems their own gun smiths haven't worked out. They have a terrific selection of barrels and their bolts are fantastic, so you'll be getting a lot of good value in the barreled action.

Well I'm confident I'll do it myself... And now someone brought to my attention Smith Enterprises.... Does anyone have any experience with SEI? The internet is full of all sorts of reviews and it's hard to weed through the office chair commando bs.

You don't want SEI when you can get LRB (or JRA).

If for no other reason, they seem to be REALLY BIG DOUCHE BAGS (this is just my opinion, and I'm putting a caveat in that SEI cannot sue me for my opinion, because it is just that, an opinion, protected by my right to free speech) :)

In case you haven't noticed, that's a little bit of a joke, but they are one litigious company. There have been lawsuits over pretty stupid things. I wouldn't go with them, when you can get an LRB or JRA or some such gun. If you can afford it, it would be a hell of an awesome gun. My next M14 pattern gun will be an LRB of some sort, I've decided that for sure.

This is an easy process. I used IRUNGUNS (IRG) to look after the import as I found them to be more service oriented than the other popular choice. Basically it is like this:

Call LRB (LRB are simply awesome to deal with and are totally used to dealing with Canadians and our import stuff)
Contact IRG - fill out the online form
IRG will email you a copy of their US FFL which you send to LRB
When your M25 is ready LRB will invoice you and you pay
LRB mails the rifle to IRG's FFL who is IIRC in Nevada
The LRB FFL holder sends the rifle to IRG in Canada
You get a call from IRG and pay the GST etc
IRG mails the rifle to you

I cannot recommend dealing with Armtac.
