Hi everyone,

I'm used to dealing with Lee Enfield and other milsurp rifle; the firearm below is somewhat new to me so apologies for asking for input here. I have been tasked with appraising then selling a deceased friend's firearms.

A mint or near-mint Remington 7600, gloss finish on the wood, chambered in .270 Win, with a Williams peep sight, and a spare magazine. I did some research and I believe that this rifle, new, sells for around $750, but I have no idea about the peep sight and the spare mag. Pictures below.

Thanks for any help figuring out reasonable market values for this gun; I will be selling it hopefully in a short while (still need to finish dealing with the CFC...), my friend's widow sure will be able to use the money.

I would say $500-$575 range - some may like the peep, most will scope it. May want to sell the peeps separate. I would give you $500 with out the peeps. Maybe a bit more. PM me back if you are interested after you get more feedback

Having the sling attach to the barrel is bad, better to have it attach to the front of the receiver (common mistake with pump guns, they do it like shown so the sling won't move when action operated) but barrel mounting will effect the accuracy because it pulls the barrel down if you wrap the sling around your forearm,

Anyway, some where in that range is fair.

louthepou, that spare mag is worth 40 bucks or better. Same mag works fine for the .30-'06, too.

Mags interchanged between the Remington pumps and semi-autos, so the mag will work on a .270, .280 or .30-'06 Model 740, 742, 7400 as well. Most short-action mags interchange between short-action variants. There were only something like about 4 mags, worked all the way from itty-bitty to near-monsters. Really decent engineering.

Not commonly known is that a LOT of the guts interchange between these models, too. Barrel change has been changed from time to time, though; there are 3 different barrel-changes that I know of. I have NO idea why they changed them: they all work just fine!

As with ANY Remington, it should be accurate enough to knock the lightbulb off a firefly at 50 yards. They make REALLY good barrels, FAR better than you would suspect on ANY pump gun.

Hope this helps.

I believe he is in the process of getting them transferred to his name from a friend that has passed away, and will be selling them on behalf of the widow once the transfers are done.

Around 500$ or so for that rifle. I hope you get more but i wouldn't pay more than said price. I hope you get at least 500$ though. Good Luck

That's precisely it. We're still dealing with paperwork with the CFC. The widow did ask me to send the list and prices to her because she did mention she'd show this to some coworkers of hers who expressed interest. I doubt they are expecting what's coming, I have the feeling they are just hoping for some average guns at basement cheap prices... But the guns will be sold and all the money will go to the widow (and two daughters :( )

I bought one in similar condition for $250, but that was 20 years ago. Still my moose rifle. Shoots better than a lot of bolt actions. Now if I could only find a 7600 in 35 Whelan.

loose the bipod. Why bother with a free floating barrel?

I was one of the lucky ones who just scored a 7600 in 35 whelen. Mines plastic. I like your wood much better.
