Hi Gents
need your advice please

I recently bought a polytec M14.
most of my shooting is done at 100 yards, but would like to venture into the 200+ yards eventually.
looking for a decent adjustable magnification scope that wont break the bank.
I see some cheap scopes out there like Tasco, NC star etc.
not sure if they can handle the repeated beating of a .308 recoil, or will they hold "0"
Ideally I would like to spend no more then $200 for an entry level scope that will work.
Please help
thanks.

I would avoid Tasco, NC Star, etc for the M14. You do need something tough on the m14. There is a lot of clanging and banging on a semi auto and that is hard on scopes and their mounts. If your budget is $200, I'd buy a used Leupold, or a new Redfield, possibly a Bushnell 3200 (10x tactical) or Burris Fullfield II. Its frustrating to scope a rifle and not have it hold zero. Simply a waste. I've not had the best of luck with a scope holding zero on mine. While the scope gives me tighter groups, the point of impact seems to wander. I've put my scoped m14 on the backburner.
