Can you guys help me find the right sling for me. I have never used one but want to start using one this winter to carry my rifle when walking and snowshoeing. It will need to stay on well as I might need two hands for some of the hills I have to climb. I think I would like to stay away from leather. I'm not sure if this is a big deal or just buy one and deal with it as they are all the same.

Vero Vellini. It's a biathlon sling similar to the rubber video one except leather and better.

I use one on an XCR-L when using cross country skis or snowshoes.

It won't flop around like that rubber one.

I have 3 slogan slings, all from the same order...the sling itself is good, but sweet f*** that company has serious issues, horrible service, horrible communication, they didn't even attempt to make things right until I filed a visa dispute and my money refunded, staff and the owner himself are either incompetent or blatant liars....I would NEVER support their business again, but if you feel so inclined, do not order direct, order from brownells/anywhere else that carries the sling

I have the same sling as pictured above and really like it (or at least same design, no labels on it but is fabric and leather), if you want two hands free I think it's the best sling for that purpose, I use it for snowshoeing...it doesn't flop around as much and slides off easier, the rubber one really sticks to my clothing

also didn't like the plastic swivels on the slogan sling, replaced them with uncle mike's

I have had good luck with Blue Force Gear Vickers slings, they can be had for about $50. I also tried some Magpul ms3's but the clips keep breaking so I wouldn't suggest them as a first choice,

If you want military style the Magpul MS4 is a great sling. You can carry it like a regular shoulder sling, 1 point sling or at the ready in a 2 point config. With QDs too.

Could use a "Viper Sling", they were originally leather about 20 years ago but I think they are now made of nylon. The sling held the firearm in the front on an angle, but with the pull of a snap you could immediately shoulder the gun. It also worked similar when the firearm was on your back.

I am in the same boat. Looking for something to carry my ACR on my shoulder for coyotes this winter. Ordered an MS1 sling and the MS1 ms3 QD adapters. Realized the ms1 sling is not what I was after lol. It's a quite confusing market with 1point, 2 point, 3 point slings and about 20 different pieces of hardware to mount the things haha.

I like that "Vero Vellini" sling that Skypilot showed... looks excellent. I have had/have lots of slings and only a few seem to be "adequate" (not great but adequate) one is a "cobra" style with a wider area where it sits on the shoulder to spread the weight a little AND it has a sort of suede finish that seems to hug the shoulder a bit better. I have seen guys sew a large button on the outer shoulder of their coat to act as a keeper for the sling and this seems to work pretty well... and doesn't seem to slow down access to the rifle if needed in a hurry. For the winter (particularly in snow deep enough for snowshoes) -- also try to find one of those rubber muzzle covers they used to have for the FNC1 .. the actual end of the cover was quite thin while the tube wall was a heavier rubber ... presumably meant that it wouldn't be a big issue if you inadvertently took a shot with the cover on.. never tried it myself though.

Incidentally on one of my plastic stock rifles I had them install (years ago) a few extra Pachmyr flush mounts for those little "T" shaped sling loops so that I had options for attaching my sling to the bottom of the rifle -- or the side (or a combination) seems to help when the rifle is cross strapped to my back
