Need help on a T97 Gremlin.

Basically my t97 has the typical problem of the bolt pushing in the bullet on to the feed ramp. This only happens with brass ammo it seems. Ive fired 60 rounds of steel cased with no issue.
Im using 5/30 E-lander mags. When the mag is inserted into the gun, there is quite alot of movement in the magwell causing the magazine to drop ever so slightly at the front forcing the bullets to be caught on the feed ramp.

Now should I try different mags or......something else? thoughts?

Seems to usually be magazine issues with these rifles. Oddly enough E-Lander's are the ones that work for mine.
You can try tapping loaded mags so the bullets sit as far back in the mag as possible. Thats one of the things that's helped me with older mags I used to use.
 
Along with a subtle filing on the feed ramps, myself and others have had success shimming the magazine with tape to make it sit tighter.
 
I don't like the idea of changing the feed ramp. I put some JB weld on my mags. A bit on the top and bottom where needed then sand it down to the point that they were not too tight but feed reliablely. The two 5/30 mags the came with the rifle have never had issues
 
Mags may be the issue, they also may not be the issue. I had the same issue with mine, and tried mags that worked flawlessly with other T97's, but my bullets still got pushed into the casing. Best to stop shooting it right now, and contact who you bought it from (assuming it's not a private sale, but rather a dealer sale), and get it repaired under warrant.

If it's a private sale, check with one of the site sponsors who have a repair depot.

DO NOT listen to others here and start filing things down, or making changes yourself. You will void any warranty on the rifle you may have. If you aren't 100% familiar with the rifle and its action, you may cause more harm than good by listening to some people here.

I sent mine back for repairs and it has worked flawlessly since. I got a lemon. It happens. It's best to let the manufacturer fix it than start to modify things yourself. Lemons happen, and contrary to popular belief, can be fixed.. and in the end, your warranty is still intact.
 
This was both a mag and feed ramp issue for me.

Loose fitting magazines caused the failure to feed, and then the feed ramp pushed the bullet into the case.

I modded some magazines to fit better, and ground the feedramps down slightly, boom no more failures.
 
I adjusted my feed ramps to what they should be from the factory, and no further issues. I don't like the idea of modifying some mags, and not others.

I want to be able to use any AR pattern mag in any rifle I have that takes them. Better to FIX the rifle. But I agree that you need to be careful. It's much easier to take away too much metal. Can't put it back easily!

As in dremel?

I polished the feed ramps with oil n fine steel wool and the E landers appear to be feeding more reliably. The norc mag is a complete lost cause.
I acquired some venture check mags so we'll see how these will fare.
