Hey good morning. I recently picked up a browning A bolt micro medallion in a 7-08, according to browning, it was made in 1989. Iv herd that browning used a different bolt during this time? I'm not sure, not to familiar with Brownings. Anyway, the rifle is still new in box, never been fired. Has a beautiful stock on it, all bluing and finish is still as new.

Can anyone give me an idea on the value on this rifle by chance? I believe they quit making them in the early 90's, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for your time guys.

Why would you suggest it is worth as much or more than a new X-Bolt Micro? I've seen the X-Bolt Micro for as low as $699 new.

Did the X-bolt have the rosewood fore-end and grip cap? The engraving on the receiver? Rifles are a very personal taste thing for a lot of people. Many people want a cheap plastic rifle these days. Some people want to pay a little more and get nice wood, or something a little different. Personally, if I were looking I would be happy to pay 800$ for the rifle above. I have handled a few micro medallions, and owned one for many years and know that they are a quality rifle. Personally, I do not like the new look of the x-bolt magazines. I do like the slick hidden magazine in the A-bolt. The blueing and finish on my Browning is of very high quality, I don't think I've seen better. Not sure if all of the same vintage compare. These are just my personal observations/opinions.

Hey thanks all, I appreciate your input. Iv had a mixed response on the value, it does seem to be more of a personal preference that gives this rifle it's value above the x bolt. I'm still debating on changing out the stock and using it as my mountain rifle or maybe sell/trade it. It's sure pretty to be beating it up in the hills lol.

Iv had people say it's worth $1000 and others say $600, so I just wasn't sure.

It only has A bolt stamped on it FLHTCUI, one of the guys iv talked to had mentioned about it being a BBR, sounds to be a pretty good action ? Or would that be referring to the bolt?

Thanks again guys.

I got one here a few years ago for less than 600. I like it but would not pay 800 for another. If you are not going to sell it then it is moot. Do a search in EE & what people are asking (then deduct 10% :) )

BC T, I am far from a Browning Expert but am rather a firearms enthusiast.
Google is my friend and should be yours as well. (not slamming/slagging you here)
The BBR iirc is a mauser action?
The A-bolt was a first generation of the 60 degree lift and the A-bolt II is a second generation fancy scroll work for one upgrade.
I prefer the feel and balance of the A-bolt over the X-bolt be it in wood or synthetic plastic and thirdly it would purely be an emotional experience buying that pretty rifle...
Nothing more, nothing less.
Shoot it and enjoy it or Sell it and enjoy the rewards of something else.
Tight Groups,
Rob
