Okay i got a hole bunch of WW2 medals today and i got a pice that I think is a real German NSFK Power Flight Badge. How would i tell if it is ? There is some markings on it, at the back in the middle of the Eagle That says " JMME SOHN BERLIN" Made of sliver or maybe nickel. The loop ware the pin goes in in not a round loop, But round with a opening at the right side if looking at it from the back. Can anyone help me figer out if its real. Thanks Andrew

There was a jewler in Austria who made medals and badges for the Germans during WW 2. After the war when collecting German medals and badges became popular, he dusted off his dies and restarted production. Shapires were substitited for diamonds, in the higher grades.

Dot iss der problem. When ve lost, all der workers vas sent home. But der voricht Amerikans wanted to collect so ve called effry one back und started der produktion again using der same dies und material ven ve vas working for der Fuhrer.

Barry Sadler (the guy who wrote "the ballad of the green Berets") was a avid collector, It was later determined that 80% of his collection was fake.

The reason I think it's a repro is because to the best of my knowledge (correct me if I'm wrong) originals were stamped. This one has flashing which means it was molded. If it was an original and it was indeed molded then I would imagine that the flashing would have been cleaned up. The German military was quite strict on everything being in the right place and having the right look so I don't think that this would fly in that circumstance.

Just my 2 cents.
