Need help to ID this Russian .22LR

This is my Grandfathers .22LR from what he's told me he's had it since the 50's. Just want some help to ID it properly thanks.

It looks like a TOZ-17 early version, to me.

I used to have one with a scope mounted. The iron sights were missing.

It easily outshot my sporterized Cooey 82.

Your grandfather's TOZ doesn't have the scope rails cut into the receiver like this one:

That and the fact that there is no designation above the "MADE IN USSR" would probably indicate that it's an earlier version.

My CZ's are finished nicer and maybe shoot a little better, but that is a family heirloom.

Enjoy that rifle and don't sell it!

Kudos to your grandpa for hanging onto it for so long.

Your grandfather's TOZ doesn't have the grooves cut in the receiver for rails like this one:

On the rest of the receiver all it says is "Made in USSR". Unfortunately that's the only photo's I have at the moment.
