Need Help to identify this 30-06. Thank you

The rifle with me in the picture came from the Remington era of 1926 to 1940, that Boomer lists, it must have had the M-30 EXPRESS on it. Been a long time and I just couldn't remember the M.
However, in remembering back to homestead days and the practice of showing every visitor your rifle, my brother hated to show this one, because no one could figure out what calibre it was, not knowing what the 30 meant. My brother would say 30-06, but that didn't seem to help. Also, I remember neighbors laughing when they saw the shells and ask why he needed a cannon for shooting game!
The rifle came with #### on opening from the Remington factory.

Mine has always been #### on closing and having used it most of my life that way is no bother.
But it is amusing when you hand it to someone who has never seen that on a rifle before.

I'm not trying to side-track this excellent thread but my enjoyment of the Remington Mod. 30 Express combined with the 35 Whelen cartridge has spawned a need for another 35 Whelen rifle, so lets see what comes up in a few weeks ??
