Need Help With Ammo! Please :)

I recently purchased a Remington Sportsman 58 Semi-Auto12 Gauge 2 3/4" Full Choke and I have come across people saying I can only use a lead shot with this shotgun. is this true? This is my first semi-auto and I am also new to chokes. Any help with this is greatly appreciated!

Steel shot won't compress like lead. If your barrel is thick enough you should be able to open the choke up to at least modified. A gunsmith should be able to tell you if it is possible and be able to do it for a reasonable rate.
Shooting anything larger than #4 steel could damage your barrel and or yourself. Have it checked out, or use it for small game and or trap and skeet with lead.

IMHO your best bet is to have choke tubes installed in your firearm.
