I have one of the early versions of the STI GP6C 9mm.

Something is definitely off with the internals.

When field stripping/reassembling, sometimes the slide goes on easy, sometimes very very hard

The double action trigger doesn't seem to ever reset to be able to double action the gun but sometimes if I pull the hammer back to the first notch, then it will/can double action.

Sometimes when completely assembled it feels like the slide is catching on the hammer when racking the slide. Sometimes not.

The trigger doesn't reset to any particular location reliably.

Needless to say I haven't had the pistol to the range since the problems started.

So, does anyone know of a good pistol smith in Canada that might be able to look at it?

Alternately, does anyone know of a good web site / video / reference that'd help me detailed strip the pistol in the hopes that whatever is grieving it, it might be noticeable and fixable if I tear the gun down far enough?

Thanks.

Well I figured if I could get the innards out of the gun then the problem would likely be obvious.

This web site helped me get it apart.

While the video isn't about my particular model, it did have the details of which pins to push out.

Anyway, the problem is indeed obvious: the hammer is broken.

Now to find a replacement hammer someplace.

Just to close this one off, Dave at Grand Power Canada fixed me up with a replacement hammer. It, of course, wasn't covered by warranty (not even close) but a little over $100 in parts put an otherwise useless pistol back onto the firing line.

The pistol's working fine now with a little guidance from some online videos and a little patience from me.

Thanks for the hints and suggestions.
