The cannon is 26" long (maybe swivel) and was told it was French (maybe copy). Any thoughts on the 'bomb burst' markings?

The picture could be of it lying on the bottom of the Marianas Trench.

Some good pics would help a lot. However, there is a shortage of resident cannon experts on here I imagine, who would know better than you?

Now oddly this symbol strikes me as a grenadiers mark.

JPC- Ever made a cannon carriage with your woodworking skills?

That looks like a nice piece, you need to rustle up a carriage for it.

There are cannon makers in Canada.

Yes, that bomb marking is interesting.
