I just received my new DA 556 from Can Am, got er all cleaned up and lubed in just the right places.....now I can't figure out how to get the sling properly installed. I have never heard of or saw this type of sling before, the instruction manual doesn't help at all, not sure how the lock clip works/how I should be running the free end through the adjuster to make it work as a short sling and a long sling. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks CGN'ers

D: All of the above

In summary -

i) Throw the crappy Chinese sling in the garbage
ii) Buy a Vickers Sling from One Shot
iii) Don't waste your time thinking about the Chinese sling, it's crap
iv) Enjoy using your rifle with it's new, useable sling.

The sling is a design the Americans used from WW2 until Vietnam. The idea was that the hook clamped to the buttstock mounting point, and then if you needed to take an accurate shot, you could unhook it and tighten the loop around your bicep and use the sling as a brace.

But who the hell does that? Just about no one, and the sling rattles like crazy so the design was abandoned. Get yourself a Vickers, Emdom or Magpul sling, never look back.

I used mine for a Tapco'd SKS and rigged it up as a 2 point.... seems to be holding up. But for the rifle i got a MS2 magpul and a rear sling plate from midwest

Not a big fan of the MS2 for anything over 30min.. After our regular shoots that run about 90-120min it gives me a nice welt. A 1pt budget option would be the bungee slings from Zahal. They also carry plates (just watch out for the takedown pin and buffer retainer pin springs flying out - thank you youtube for warning me) and even sling pads so you can wear it all day and not feel it. Works better on the AR platform than their 2pt (if you want 2pt, talk to Farmboy) but their 2pt worked great on the T97.. 2" width also translated into all day comfort.

Thanks everyone, I know it is garbage. ...just curious as to how it was supposed to work. I have a single point magpul on my XCR-M and a rail mounted loop on the front rail that I can use it as a two point, it works great. I will be looking into other options in the future. Thanks for the feed back.
