I took my Winchester P-14 out to shoot for the first time today. Shoots a nice tight group but its about 8" high at 100 yds with the battle sight. It shoots about 6" high with the adjustable peep sight all the way down. I need a higher front sight blade. Where do I find one? Numrich only lists one for the P-14 and doesn't mention size. Will a #1 or a #4 front sight fit. Questions, so many questions.

The Lee Enfield #4 Mk1 point of impact is raised or lowered by exchanging the front sight.Available front sights for the #4 are as follows;

Early last year, I used an Enfield front sight on a P-14 that I had purchased, worked like a charm. Front sights can be bought at Gun Parts Inc, e-bay, etc

you will need a vice with soft jaws, a hammer and brass drift punch. I have a standard .303 reload so I just kept exchanging front sights till I zeroed at 100 yds. Took 2 different sights

Well, if I recall correctly, the battle sight is set to 400 yards. So if you are shooting at 100 with it then it should shoot high. Ditto for the flip sight. I believe the flip only goes down to 200 yards, correct? Then again, it should be a few inches up. An attached bayonet would probably lower the sight to where it should be.

But if you don't want to shoot with a bayonet, I'd order a bunch of different sizes (enfield or P-14), bust out the trusty digital vernier caliper, measure, and insert the proper sight.

IIRC the battle sight should be 300 yards on a Pattern 14 rifle.

And on mine it does index in the flip up mode to a spot under 200 yards...I'm assuming it is 100 as it seems dead on at that range using the proper milsurp ammo.
