So I've recently stumbled upon a .22 short rifle mkii training rifle that is missing a couple parts and I was wanting to make it more correct looking. It's missing the upper hand guard and the rear barrel band and swivel.

I was wondering if one of you could post a couple pictures of the proper hand guard so I could hopefully make a reasonably correct looking one out of a spare repro No. 1 Mk. III hand guard that i have. I'm specifically interested in the sight protector and how it is mounted to the hand guard.

Also, I was wondering if the barrel bands for this rifle are the same as the ones off a Lee-Metford? Anyone know where to find one for a half reasonable price?

Any help anyone can give me is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

These used a slightly modified Mk1 SMLE handguard that have the built in sight protectors, the lower band should be the same as a standard Longlee but I could be wrong on that, hopefully some one will correct me if I'm wrong.

Any idea how the protector is attached? Is it just pressed on or screwed/bolted on in some way? I haven't had a chance to play around with a Mk. 1 so I'm just working off the pictures I can find online.
