Hi everyone.

So I made the mistake of buying a WK180 Gen 2 a few months ago. In the time since, I’ve never taken it to the range without having an issue, and now my piston rod broke. I’ve reached out to Kodiak Defence a few times but haven’t gotten a response yet.

Does anyone have any experience with their customer service or advice to share?

I haven't broken a piston myself, but I do know that the gas block has a tendency to come loose which can put the piston out of proper alignment which can break it. I had to tighten my gas block and locktite it. Probably going to get an adjustable gas valve for mine.

Super crappy.
Kodiak's customer service is/was generally quite good. Back when I was having gen 1 troubles they were very quick to send out replacement parts. If they have a phone number you should call them.

i would reach out to True North Arms to see if they can help you out and maybe have replacment parts. While it may be broken you can get it up and running again. Once fixed maybe sell it and get an SRV2

Did you do the obligatory gas block tightening and loctite before shooting it or did you just wing it?

I have a gen 2 and while it is in no way shape or form an AR I don’t mind it.
I don’t have a ton of rounds on mine (1500 ish) it has been reliable and surprisingly accurate.
You definitely have to disassemble and clean/loctite every thing. I installed the piston rod bushing
and the updated gas valve. They are a pain in the neck to service but i have only cleaned and inspected mine
once in 1500 rnds.
Believe me i would much rather be using my AR but that is not to be right now.
If you are buying this to replace your AR don’t because it won’t.
It is a reasonable gun for the range and multi gun competition not a battle rifle.
