If you want the information because you are considering buying the rifle, just look it over.
Does the country it was made in, England, have a reputation for shoddy, good or excellent firearms?
If you have never heard of the manufacturer, BSA, just google Birmingham Small Arms and see what you get.
How is the the craftsmanship of the rifle? Does it look to be well built? Or a piece of junk?
In short, you be the judge of the firearm.

Is it a push-feed or controlled round feed? A close-up picture of the action would help identify it.

BSA made a few different models of sporting rifles in addition to thousands of converted P14 and Model 1917 Enfields.

All their sporting rifles were 100% hand-made and in my opinion better quality that the much-praised Winchester Model 70.

My wild-ass guess however is that you have a CF-2 model due to the full-length stock.

Just pass on it.....
But let me know where it is!:D
BSA, as has been pointed out, did a lot of conversions of military rifles over the years utilizing Mauser 98 actions as well as the P-14 and P-17 Enfields. They also did make their own action, which is a modified Mauser, without the thumb cut.
Overall, they are well built rifles, but condition dictates price.
Let me know if you pass on this one. I collect rifles with the "mannlicher" stock.

Thanks Guys,

Its a controlled round feed,
from what you guys have told me I can see its maybee a "royal" as its .270win and the CF-2 did not come in .270? as far as I can see with my google abilitys, :)
The "R" in the serial number matches up with .270 from informal BSA literature.

The sites I could reference say it was only in production for a few years is this good or bad as far as value of a gun?

It really does not look like a P14 or P17.

Any other informaiton is greatly appreciated

Ill try to get some pictures in the near future.

I have a 30s BSA Martini 22 that cloverleafs at 25m with open sights. I see a lot of old BSAs at the shows too so that should be an indicator.

The CF2 was produced in 270 Win for the entire production life of the model.

All we need is a few pictures, and you will know what model you have, as the various models are all quite distinctive.

So is this a good rifle, shooter, collecter?

Dependant on how it has been treated during the last 45 years it should be a fair shooter - it's not a collector - and will be able to kill anything you point it at.

Current market value would be somewhere between $350.00 & $500.00 which is a shame as it is better built than many other rifles selling for twice that price.
