Need info on bull barrels and 1911's

I'm going to a bull barrel in my NP29, and although I have too many 1911's, never have I had one with a bull barrel. For the recoil spring assembly, I'd appreciate a rundown of how the new spring cap is captured. I've heard about 'inverted' caps/plugs on full length guide rods, any explanation is greatly appreciated.

Usually the slide is milled from the back to "hold" the inverted spring plug on a FLGR. The opening is made larger from the rear and leaves a shoulder at the front of the hole that keeps it from going "sproing".

Works well and if the FLGR has a hole, takedown is probably easier than with a bushing.

That I did, and have wanted one ever since Jack. I'm actually doing up an NP29 just like yours...

Oh, and yeah, would love to have a look Jack. There barrel's enroute, as well as the FLGR etc, be nice to see how the machining works in person.
