PH models were built for a short while only and most had twist barrells, wich are really hard to sell due to this not being a high grade Parker, but if it has fluid steel barrels if in 50% condition its worth around $800-1000 here in Canada. It was made approx 1922-23 period and if it has a single trigger the value goes way up too. The engraving should be a light border engravingwith Parker Bros on the left side of the action ,the fences should has 1/3 coverage and the cocking lever should very light engraving also. The proper designation if it has ejectors is PHE, this model was dicountinued in 1929 and was at the time the lowest grade Parker made in 10 gauge! Unfortunately the money for the lower grade Parkers are in the 16 to 410 gauges, there is less interest in the 12's due to the amount produced and the Migratory b ird act abolishing the use of lead! Most of the collector interest is in the USA as there is a resurgents in double's that are quality built, and that Parkers are. If your friends wished for $50 US he can write to the Parker collectors society and request a letter from the old factory books. If you need anymore info go to www.parkerpages.com take care Dale in T-Bay

I will try and get pics posted, the 30" barrels are a nice deep blue color and not twist steel as far as i can tell.i would say overall condition is 75%-80%,and i said it was a PH model but i'm not a 100% sure of that,i found ph stamped on the inside of the receiver that is hidden when the barrels are closed (any other place to look for model?).
markings on receiver are as follows

Perry was very nice and sent me an extensive set of pictures, and boy was he right! THE WOOD is AWSOME!! here is some of the info i could relate after viewing the picture. It is a PHE(ejsctor) gun in about 90% wood ,barrels 80+%, reciever 90% but case hardening has faded to around 30%. The barells has a struck weight of 4lb 1oz, the gun is built on the Parker #2 frame( this is the heaviest made for durability and duck guns) The barrels are Parker Steel and is indicated on the barrel lug flats by a P inside a circle. The model designation is only for a PH model(without ejectors) but alot of Parkers have had ejectors added when an order came into the factory they would take a PH and fit it with ejectors if they did not have one on hand to ship. The gun also has factory correct (dogs head ) butplate and grip cap, proper tang saftey, double triggers, this gun is good as you can get for this grade Parker( actually really nice engraving for this grade!! and if the owner is interested in selling, this would make one find grouser or duck gun with bismuth shot, the chokes have no designation, they were shipped with pecentage of shot put on an 80 yard target, so you can't define a Parker choke as full or modified, it must be shot to disturn shot pattern. If this were my gun after seeing the beautiful picture I would check to see if a factory letter was available for this fine boxlock American shotgun, I can only say its GREAT!! Perry your friend is one lucky fellow, Dale in T-Bay

Pics for ONTHOS

And a few comments:

It is a gorgeous old piece & if it were mine or if I were contemplating it's purchase I would get a letter due to a few interesting qualities

those qualities are:
- steel barrelled PH's are not common
- wood is higher than expected on PH
- wear plate (on rear of lug) was not yet used by Parker when PH guns were being made (pretty sure of this)
- I see no factory marks indicating retrofit of these items

a couple points of clarification:
- it is definitely not an ejector gun.
- it is a 2 frame gun, that is the most common size, but not the largest that 12 gauges were available on.

some points of concern:
- screws in wrong holes & slightly buggered.
- but plate is a modern reproduction which doesn't fit well & stock appears to have been cut (squared up) to make it work

Mark your right about the ejectors I missed that in the pictures, but i was just relating that alot of Parkers were marked without but shipped out from the factory with them. And the #2 frame is not the largest as we know , though most 12 bores are built on it( here is the 3 sizes-1-1 1/2 and 2) I imagine you could order a 12 gauge barrel set extra for your Parker 10 bore wich are also built on #2 frames and also #3 & #5 frames were available for the big 10 gauge and I asume the 8 gauge would have been built on the #5 frame being the largest frame available. Good cach on the cut but ,I didn't blow the picture up enough to see the chip out from whoever cut it, the dogs head butplate is for later production, but I am unsure what serial # range they started with this type. Anyway if you ever wanted a Parker you can take in the woods to hunt with ,this is one that you will enjoy without guilt that you are hurting the value of such as the higher grade guns. I myself only take out my DHE Pigeon 12 bore on nice days as I wish not to put more wear than is needed, thanks to Mark for his quick eye an observation about the above and the replaced LUG, take care Dale in T-Bay

Hi guys i would like to thank Zywina and Mark Dube and Bittermansbro for all their help.Bittermansbro it looks like Mark Dube beat you at posting the pics thanks anyway. So much info to ponder and pass along,i love CGN so many people willing to take time to help total strangers with identifying their little treasures or beaters what a great site. Thanks again for all your help guys much appreciated:D

Haha, no worries, I just sent you an email before I saw that. Beauty Parker sir!

Hey, we're a selfish and silly bunch really, we'll go to the ends of the earth to see pictures of things other people have :p

Very nice looking gun, Onthos. I'll throw in a few more details. The PH was made from 1890-1927. This one was made in 1923. The Parker Special Steel barrels replaced twist as the standard around 1917. The pinned bolt wear plate Mark mentioned was patented and came into use as standard in 1905, though some soldered on plates were used by the factory earlier. Good eye on the butt plate, Mark. Of the 15,588 PHs made only 1,339 were Parker Special Steel (fluid steel). 30" 12 gauges were the most common Parker Steel, if 375 could be called common. The rib inscription on the barrels should read either Parker Special Steel or Parker Spec. Steel.
I wouldn't mind seeing a better picture of the front bead sight, it doesn't look quite right though it might be the photo. The barrels haven't been cut. It left the factory with 30".
