Need info on S&W Model 14-3

14-3

You have a chance to get a very very nice revolver!!!!!!! $5-700.00 depending on how good it is and how bad you want it. No matter what you end up paying, you will be happy with it.

What about compared to a Model 28-2?

Working on the assumption you're new to pistols...

The Model 14 is built on the K frame. It's smaller in size to the N frame which the Model 28 is built on.

The Model 14 was blued and had a serrated rib running the top of the barrel and target sights.

The Model 28 was I believe parkerized and may have had a fixed rear sight. It was marketed as a working gun compared to it's upmarket brother, the Model 27.

Matte blued, actually, and the rear sight was indeed adjustable. I liked mine OK but a Model 14 would probably be a better shooter....lighter in weight, probably a better trigger pull too.

Mod 14 (also known as the Target Masterpiece) was a K (medium) frame 38 Special, primarily designed for target shooting, it was also very popular in the '60's with LAPD officers. The Mod 28 (also known as the "Highway Patrolman") was a much heavier N frame 357 magnum primarily designed for uniformed duty carry and practise using a steady diet of full power 357 magnum loads. Of the 2 the Mod 14 is generally more accurate and much better finished.

Sounds about right. I got mine from Armco on a trade so I can't remember the exact asking price.
6" barrel, target sights and beautiful blued finish, with only a little visible wear.

If you've got the shekels, buy it. I don't think you can go wrong with a good S&W.
