I wrote up a long post but it seems to have disappeared....so my short question is do any of you Marlin guys out there know where a guy can buy a model 39 FINGER LEVER SPRING in Canada?
Also, does anybody have any tricks on how to remove paint from a patina'd rifle without ruining the original finish? thanks in advance for any advice.

Try Western Gun Parts in Edmonton, phone 1 780 489-5711 , probably closed today though, due to holiday

Or just unload the poor old thing to me, LOL, paint on the wood , depends what the paint is , try a heat gun, and plastic putty knife
or hit Cica 1860 stripper, I have not tried stripper on blueing. If it is the Marlin, try a small dab on the rear of the tube , under the forend and see what happens.
0000 steel wool works good for cleaning the stripper and gunk off.
Depending on the type and paint, also try lacquer thinner, acetone , Breaker cleaner will not hurt blue and may take some paint off.
