Ive had my home made mp5-10/22 for a few years now. Been away from the rimfire mods for a bit. Considering seeing if I can trade it for a new project. Whats the latest and greatest trends? Seeing a lt of GSG threads. Decent guns? Reliable? accurate? Or maybe a heavy barreled 10/22 project? WHos got some fun ideas?

Lots of GSG stuff going on, but I'd suggest you go handle one before you decide. Your thread starter made me instantly think of this, which might be the cooler 10/22 builds I've seen;

In our current political climate, I'd be leaning towards a 10/22 project if only for availability of parts today/going forward. There are far fewer available options to mess around with Remington 597s (for example) but the mag options for that gun are an appealing enough reason to consider it. Keeping in mind, places like BOYD's for stocks.

My tastes are not tactical/black-gun, so I'm always interested to see people taking really accurate bolt actions and putting a low profile read dots on them for close-range shooting, moving targets, etc. Doesn't turn everyone's crank, but if I were customizing a gun and the budget was there, I'd be doing something like that. Not flashy, just purpose-built and using something very good as the foundation.

Good luck, and post some pictures if you put something together!

I have a GSG-16 and have put about 2,500 rds though it

Good:
Its inexpensive
Its accurate (enough)
It looks good right out of the box
Its easy to dress it up
HK slap works :)

Bad:
It is picky with ammo
Its a pain to clean
Its mostly plastic and feels like it
Charging handle is known weak point

Summary:
Its a fun range toy and great way to get new shooters into black guns but its not something I expect to become a heritage gun that gets passed down generations

At ~$500 buy it while you can and have some fun
