I am looking for a new scope for my Sako 222. It will be mainly used for coyote hunting, so I am looking for possibly a 3-9, or 4-12X40. I am looking at spending around $350 for one. Just wondering what would be a decent scope for the money? Thanks

I use a Vortex Diamondback 4-12X40 with the Ballistic reticle. I got it for like $180 on sale.

For what I paid I don't think it can be beat. Clear enough, holds zero, relief not super awesome but it's a varmint gun. Best of all I sighted in using their "recommendations" for varmint calibers (0 and 200 yards).. and all of the hash marks line up exactly to like 450 yards. The scope goes to like 650 but I have not tried shooting that far. This is out of a .204 at like 3850 fps if that means anything to you.

I'm sure you know this but most serious coyote hunters I know use scopes that do NOT have an adjustable objective or side focus. It just slows you down. This is why I avoided most of the Nikon Scopes and many others.. as well, that Nikon bubble reticle is horrendous. I do like how they come with a honeycomb sun shade though, that might help keep the snow out.
