Looking at a 22LR handgun...

On the one side There is the Hammerli X-esse. I've shot it before, very nice. Super accurate. The only problem is the price. $1000 when is all said and done.

On the other side is the Sig P226 Conversion kit. Apparantly it shoots well and reliably. Would help improve my shooting skills with the P226. Only $300 and readibly availible while I'm here in the States. (Will import properly). The downside is their is no slide lock back. That and I'll only have a half a gun

What's the verdict?

Hammerli X-esse show up in the EE every now and then, you just missed two.

A S&W 41 or 617/17 with 5", 6" or 8" barrel can be had for $600-800 used.

The Ruger Mark II is no 50m free pistol, but is quite competative for 25m Bullseye shooting.....and a third the cost of an X-esse new.

I've really narrowed my choices down to those two... I've tried the ruger, it wasn't for me.

I don't really buy used guns. I don't really by used anything actually. Maybe if it was a gun I really wanted, and it was in excellent condition AND a good deal... but in those circumstances, the price is usually so close to new, I just end up buying new anyways.
