Hi everybody im new here and soon i am gonna be moving in goose bay ..labrador so i am looking for a good caribou rifle under 1000$ (including scope) i was thinking a tikka or ruger but i want opinion from everybody

Thanks

................dude, your gonna get tons of opinions. If you weren't confused before, hang on for the ride. Myself, i am gonna go get some popcorn and enjoy the show!!!:D

...........and welcome to Gunnutz!!!

The tikka t-3 is a nice gun but with a total budget of $1000 that doesn't leave much money for a scope. The stevens 200 and remington 700sps would be good choices for your budget.

opinions.......yep, we go opinions.:D

Mine is grab yourself a Weatherby Vanguard in .300 WSM for $600 and a 2-7X VXII Leupold for $450 (I guess you'll have to give up one round of drinks this weekend;) ) and send me some meat when your done.:)

UM

I'm not too sure what the availability of ammo would bbe in Goose bay, s0 I'm gonnna say " .308 or 30'06, Stevens 200, and a Bushnell 3X9 3200"
That should keep you under the mark.
You could also shop around for a good used rifle however, there are some deals out there.
Pass the popcorn please, Win94!:D

................Cat's suggestion of a the Steven 200 and a Bushnell Elite 3200 is dead on. Do a search here on the site for Stevens 200. You will also have money left over with this rig if your budget is 1000.00 You will have a no frills honest to goodness hunting rig.

................Cat, can i get ya a beer while i am up???:D

No one going to be outlandish and recommend a 300 Wby, or 7 STW? Those beasties can be deceptive in terms of distance. A nice flat shooter helps compensate for that. And one never knows when you might encounter a B-E-A-R!:D

caribou rifle package under $1000?

Remington m700 SPS stainless in 270 Winchester - $640
Talley Lightweight mounts - $70
Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x40mm - $270

total : $980 :D

I'd shoot 140 gr Nosler Accubonds @ 2900 fps

For this budget another vote for the Vanguard. 270 or 7mmish for calibre. I'd probably buy (another) Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40. You should be able to put that together for a grand or very slightly over------------------>
