Are there some reputable expert trainers out there offering private courses fundamentals for pistols in the lower mainland Vancouver area? I'm not interested in group courses, i need one on one time, theory and practical application at the range.

I'm not stubborn and i'm open to learn. I'm a member at poco gun club a burke mountain an of course i would pay for my ammo and you time?

If you are interested in teaching me, please pm me with your credentials, references, experience and costs.

Thanks

Murray Gardner is a member at PoCo and has been training shooters for many years. If I lived in the Lower Mainland I would defintely avail myself of his expert instruction.

Me, look in the training events forum for Skills and Drills to get an idea of why.

Slavex's training nights are the best deal going in skilled instruction - you won't find anyone with near the background, and exposure to training for anywhere near what he charges. As far as individual training goes, I'd say try the group thing, it's amazing what you can learn from a group that you can't learn one on one. The guys with some skill let you know what you don't know, and the guys who don't know let you learn how to improve - incidentally, EVERYONE improves with instruction.

I can do privates, but quite honestly they cost more, and unless you have a specific disability or impairment that prevents you from learning in a group environment, you will learn nearly as fast for less money. If however you just prefer being one on one, let me know.
My history, and others can fill in what I've forgotten. Couple dozen shooting courses including instructor level courses, from guys like Todd Jarret, Todd Louis Green, Ernest Langdon, James Yeager, Paul Gomez, Aaron Little, Mike C, Rob H and more than right now, in my sleep deprived state, I can't remember. I've been a semi professional competitive shooter for 13 years in IPSC, dabbled in IDPA, long distance rifle/sniper matches, Carbine and 3 gun, shotgun (tactical) and a life long martial arts student. Transitioning to basically 100% gun stuff for the martial stuff in 2000. I am considered on of the best shooters and one of the best instructors in the country, regardless of the fact that I am a civvy. I routinely teach private classes for all level of Government, be it RCMP or military (although the Mil stuff has been stagnant for awhile I guess), Sheriffs, Muni PD etc.
On top of all that I teach a weekly class at Abbotsford that costs $20 for the night for 3ish hours on a ventilated indoor heated range (or outside when the weather is nice). You will learn, a ton, if you come out and play with us. Just don't be a #### (not saying you are), just saying don't be one, they don't last long.

No kidding, apparently their is no lessons to be learned near Sask/Alberta.
Wish my other buddy would hurry up and get his RPAL, sounds like a good road trip.

Lead hammer we do get instruction in Saskatoon, you just have to look a little harder. Agoge tactical regimen is a great place to go and they are a half hour from Saskatoon. We also meet up each Wednesday night 6pm @ Saskatoon Wildlife federation for handgun club but we also do 3-gun. Contact me and I'll give you more info if you need it. We're hosting IPSC provincials Sept 21 & 22 @ SWF...come out to watch. It's free to watch just bring safety glasses and ear protection.

I've taken lessons from Murray Gardner when we brought him to Saskatoon and we really liked him. I'm hoping to move out to Abbotsford in the near future and like the idea of skills and drills night.

Thank you very much.
If I'm around I would like to come out and have a look.
PM sent.

Folks,

There are a pile of great instructors out there. Use them, learn from them and help the newbies. What's not to like?
Take your game to the next level. Set some goals, reach them and then set more goals. Spend more money on practice ammo instead of the hardware, well maybe a gym membership. Yoga for sure! heh heh heh

Cheers and regards,
Barney

One quick thing about training - it's fun, actually it's almost addictive if you like shooting. You're shooting with guys just like you, it expands your network of friends and you'll have a great time while learning.

Id like to say shooting and practicing with rob on a weekly basis for a year and a half is 100% the reason i went from mediocre shooter to having a stack of plaques this year for high finishes in my division

When are these training nights and how do I sign up? 20 bucks for 3ish hours with a professional instructor is an awesome deal.

As soon as I saw the topic I was going to recommend Rob, and then I saw his posts and others - and thought damn, now I just have to find some sort of contradictory post to be a #### ;)

In all seriousness since your location, training with Slavex is doubly awesome for you.
