I received my SSG 69 in 308 with a ZFM 6x42 scope with the german post reticle. No scope manual came with the rifle scope package.
First question is, Does anyone know what bullet weight the elevation cam is set up for?
Second question, Is anyone using the 173 grn or the 175 grn bullet in their SSG 69 ?
Regards

I cannot answer your second question (someone else could chime in) but you should find some information for your first question : you have a pretty good variety of ballistic cams to choose from. Now, which one is yours ? Some shooting is in order, I guess.

And I almost forgot : welcome to the "SSG 69 Club" ...

Thank you for the SSG welcome. I have tried the Kahles sight but not much information on the cam on the ZFM 6x42. Going to send an email off to them with the scope ser# and see if that works out. I am going to see if I can get a 173-175 grain cam if possible. Regards

delta1,

An email to Kahles with the scope serial number ? Very good idea. Could you keep us posted ?

This was my answer back from Kahles regarding the ZFM 6x42 on my SSG 69. I took out my ser# for my scope in my original note to Kahles.
I will now send a note off to Photonic. In the photonic email address close up the spaces.

Betreff: Questions regarding a ZFM 6x42 scope

To Whom this may concern:
I have recently purchases a Steyr SSG in 308 caliber. The rifle has
a ZFM 6x42 scope attached serial # ###### I need to know what the
ballistic cam on the elevation knob is calibrated for, in bullet weight
and speed.
I also require a ballistic cam to match this scope for the 173
grain m118.
Any and all help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. I now
have (9) of your fine rifle scopes the oldest (2) being ZF69s they are
fantastic scopes.
Than You and Regards Tim

delta1,

Interesting. I did not know that at least some Kahles scopes had been made by another company. You have uncovered, so to speak, something that most people - me being the first - don't even think about. I always thought that Kahles scopes were made by, well, Kahles. Photonic Optische Geräte ?

Now, let's see what will come out of it. I am waiting for the next instalment.

Many of the german scope manufacturers bought each other out. So scope markings don't correspond to the real company who made the original rifle scopes. I have found this to be true on many of the 1950's/1960's and 1970's european sniper rifles. The buying company had the scope manufacturer re-brand the scope with their name. Mostly on military contracts. After the contract ended....the buyer contracted Asian companies to make additional scope for them....cost measure.
