Morning everyone

I just picked up my birthday present, a Ruger Super Redhawk, and now I need to do some serious reloading to get some loads ready when my reg cert shows up.

I have some Frontier 340gr bullets I want to load up for using H-110.

I cannot find any load data for this. The closest I've come is on the Hodgdon website, showing a load for lead cast 335 bullet.

Starting load of 13.0gr, and max load of 26.0gr (1,500 ft/s)

Can I use this any of this? Should I be reducing the load to make up for the 5gr difference in bullet size?

Since this is a load for cast, is it under powered for the copper plated bullet I'm going to be using?

Are there any other loads anyone can suggest for me?

Help, Help!

I looked through 7 manuals and could not find data for any 340gr 454 Casull plated or otherwise. I have looked at the Hodgdon 335gr cast data.

I do NOT load for this calibre, but if I did I would start with the starting loads for the 335gr cast gas checked bullet and go from there. You could also call or write Hodgdon and see what they say about the bullet you chose.

As with any reloading, and especially what is not published in a credible manual, it is completely at YOUR OWN RISK.

I notice you typed 13gr starting and 26gr max. This is NOT what is listed on the Hodgdon site for the powder you mentioned. I believe H110 is NOT a powder suitable for reduced loads.

Thanks for the input. I believe the 13gr's I wrote was a typo as it should be 23gr's as you have shown.

You bring up a good point though. I did not think to contact Hodgdon directly for help with this load. I will certainly do this. Hopefully I get something to go with and can load up a few tomorrow.

Thanks for the input!

I'd have no qualms about 28 grs. of H-110 or WW-296 with a 340 gr. cast due to reduced pressure levels over jacketed.
