I can't find the answer to this through a search. Perhaps the answer should be common sense, but I just don't know. I know that you need it for receivers and such, but I'm unsure about mags...

I'm waiting for my RPAL (I have my PAL) and in the meantime would like to start buying the gear that I intend to use with it (ammo, holster, mags, light...)

Thanks

You need a PAL or RPAL to buy ammo.
There you go, one question answered.
Rob

Thanks, but that much I know already. It is the magazine question that has me stumped. Logically, one shouldn't require a RPAL for a mag or two, but logic doesn't always factor into the equation. Such as the requirement of an export permit to get a scope from the USA...it's just a scope.

Every business will do what they "feel" is right .. which isn't always equal to what is a legal requirement ... if any. My point is you'll have to try the individual sellers and see what they want in the way of a PAL/RPAL to purchase your mags (if anything) becuase it doesn't matter what anybody says here. If the business wants to see an RPAL, then that's what they want, complaining there is no law or legal requirement for them to see anything is going to get you .... no where.

Sorry Random, was trying to be a bit cheeky without coming off as a know it all (and I dont)
TPK, just said it better and one of the best responses to many who complain about business practices of many stores .
There should be many opportunities available to buy accessories in the EE section of this forum and buy from there.
Anyways, there are many options available to part you and your money to feed your addiction.
As for logic and the requirements for export permits to gt a scope from the US is another matter altogether.
Decide on what you want first(make and model) and then surf the boards and see who can fix you up till your RPAL arrives and then dress up the gun you want.

Hi.I am in the same boat as you waiting for my rpal while i have my pal.I have purchased mags 1911 colt mags,ar mags etc.Not one place asked for my pal let alone an rpal.Hope this helps.

Legally, there is no requirement to hold a valid PAL/RPAL to purchase magazines. It's like buying a scope, rail system, stock, or any other such accessories. However as previously stated, some companies may choose to do business in a different manner.

You can buy 10 rd magazines in the US up to $100 each purchase if the seller has an export permit. Brownells for example, you don't need a PAL at all for magazines, nut maybe some idiot may ask for it.

If you're shopping for 10-rd G17 magazines in the US these folks have been helpful in the past.

Just remember orders under $100, so no more than 3 magazines ($29 ea) per order in order to comply with US ITAR export rules
w/o extended paperwork. Use US Postal Service shipping, avoid UPS for international like the plague.
