Greets,

I'm looking for a reputable gunsmith in Alberta who can do two jobs for me, and reliably.

I have a Tikka T3 Hunter (wood stock) in .243 that I would like either pillar bedded (if possible) or glass/epoxy bedded (whichever is better).

Secondly, I have a Savage 10FP-LE2A with a target barrel, in .223 that I would like a muzzle break integrated into the barrel (rather than a threaded variety). I don't want it so much for recoil management (like a .223 has recoil  ), but to be able to help me keep my sights on the target without the rifle 'walking' after the shot.

Is there any gunsmiths in Alberta that you'd trust to do both theses items reliably?

Thanks!

Are you meaning , you want the barrel ported? rather than having it threaded and a decent brake screwed on. If its porting you want, I am sure that anyone still des that, certainly no-one in Alberta.
Beding the Tikka is no big deal, I do bedding jobs almost daily

Umm *googles barrel porting* Yeah, that's what I mean. Sorry, I didn't realize it was called porting a barrel. I thought it was just called a muzzle break. But yeah, that's exactly what I'm looking for! :)

Porting a 223 is almost as much a waste ot time and money as a brake is, there is not enough recoil to notice any appreciable difference, so basicaaly you are just wasting money and making your gun MUCH noisier for no gain

magnaport

Hey Rick there used to be a franchised Magnaport Canada dealer someplace down east but I think they folded up a few years back. Do you know if anybody else got into the porting business after they quit ? as I get a few enquiries from time to time about this process. David.

Dave I am not aware of anyone still doing this EDM porting still in Canada. As far as I know " Magnaport" is no longer around, they were in the GTA, maybe someone in the east knows, If I hear anything to the contrary will let you know.

Magnaporting was EDM'd?

I didn't know that. Must have been a ridiculous set up for something that could have better and more easily been milled

Yup They claimed it left NO marks or dross or anything behind that would effect accuracy. Having use of an EDM I now know better.
