I've owned a Rem 870 Express Super Magnum Synthetic before which was bone stock w/ no upgrades. It was a 28" barrel. I sold it a while back and was wondering what other shotguns out there compare to these in performance and price. I've shot many clays with this gun and was pretty darn good at it!!!

I'm looking to shoot skeet, turkey and possibly some big game like deer/bear.

Should I just get the same gun? I'm not looking to upgrade anything as I have just spent lots of money upgrading my 700 and I've shot pretty good with my old 870 with no upgrades anyways.

If you're going for bear too, then get the same ting but with the combo barrel. This was my first gun. 28" smooth barrel and a 20" rifled slug barrel. Love it so much I'll never part with it. Good for clays (though you do get laughed at for not having a $5000 o/u, but it gets the job done. The price is excellent at about $450 after taxes and the 870 action cannot be beat for a pump.

My only complaint is the finish of the steel. Looks nice but rusts quickly if wet. (Don't go to range or hunting if it rains.) My solution was to buy another 870. The Marine Mag.

get laughed at eh? I'm sure I could shoot better with one of these than those $5000 ones. The marine Mag is almost double the price isn't it?

You could try Mossberg 500, Benelli Nova pump, Browning BPS, Winchester 1200/1300, Ithaca 37.

Yep. The Mossberg 500. High quality, two slide rails, drilled and tapped for scope mounting, lots of barrels available, factory ported if you want it, lower price.

This is exactly what I did too. Excellent advice :)!
