Guys, I am primarily a military rifle and vintage blackpowder collector and shooter. I've been going through my gun room sorting out some stuff I really don't use anymore and am planning to list on the E.E shortly. Way too many guns in my way and I rarely hunt or even shoot much anymore other than my old Sniders and front stuffers! Here's two nice 30-30's in my collection that I can't decide what to do with. I expect I'll sell one eventually and keep one of them to hand along to one of my boys some day. The Winchester is an original finish 1947 that I had bought from an 80 year old gentleman who bought it new. He gave me the original butt plate with it and the butt stock has been unmodified. One of these days I'll put the original back on. The Marlin 93 is a Sporting Carbine that belonged to his Grandfather who had purchased it new. It was made somewhere between 1923-1925 as far as I could determine using the internet. The only real blemish other than worn blueing is a chipped butt plate. Bores are both bright, shiny and sharp on both. I tried finding values on both firearms but everything was in the U.S.. Just wondering if you guys could give me some ideas on values on them. The Winchester serial number is 14398** and the Marlin is 9**9.
Thanks for the help!
Al

Prices vary from seller to seller. The pre 64 winchesters I usually find 400-600. I don't know about marlins. If you have someone to pass them on to keep them both. I'd enjoy such gift. Hard choice if you had to sell one... nice guns.

Your 94 carbine is called a "Flat Band" due to the flat appearance of the barrel band. They were made only a couple years around 1948. With the original butt plate reinstalled it is probably a $600 gun as the flat band is worth a few bucks more than a standard band.
The Marlin looks like a nice rifle. It is a carbine with shotgun butt and 2/3 magazine I think. Probably a special order gun. I'm not up on Marlin values but it is a more valuable gun than the 94. Maybe Road King or one of the other Marlin guys can comment. Looks to be in nice condition as well.
