So I took out my new to me marlin x7vh in 308 to sight it in yesterday it is wearing a barska swat 6-24x44 scope sitting in leupold std 30 mm rings and bases. I got the rifle dialed at 200 yards but when I went to shoot further I only had 1 minute of vertical adjustment left. What would you guys recommend I do about this and yes the front and rear bases are correct

How much further out from 200yrds are your targets? Two options I could recommend.

Option 1. Spend more money on new glass

Option 2. Pickup a 20MOA scope base. I believe the Winchester 70 bases work on the Marlin X7 centerfire series. The drawback is if your scope doesn't have a lot of elevation adjustment, while a 20MOA or even 30MOA scope base will let you shoot further out, you may be limited as to how close you can shoot ie 100yrds or so.

Am i correct in assuming you only had 4 clicks left on the scope (1/4 moa per click)?

If that is the case, something is wrong. You could try different bases/rings, but the first suggestion would be to try a different scope. I have yet to see a Barska hold up to 308 recoil - not saying it can't, but the two i have seen lasted less than 10 shots each.

Thanks for the help guys I got it figured out the windage adjustment on the rear base was out of whack which in turn was leaving me with less internal elevation adjustment, again thanks to everyone for their input
