What I'm after is a die that will expand a .30-06 case that has been trimmed off just below the shoulder out to accept a .452" bullet. I have searched to no avail as it seems no one makes a bottle neck cartridge with this bullet diameter. I'm essentially making a rimless 460 magnum for a bolt action rifle and need the case mouths expanded before fireforming as the round will headspace in the case mouth. I already have a 45 acp barrel and want to increase the potential and make it more useable for me.

Without doing a search, I am sure you can purchase an expanding mandrel from one of the die makers, if they don't have the size you need, get one a little larger and turn it down.

I make up my own expanders in my lathe, if you know someone with a lathe or even pay a machine shop, it only takes about 15-20 minutes. Just start with a 5/8 (IIRC or is it 9/16?) fine bolt and 15 minutes later you have an expander plug.
Only bullets I know of in .452 are pistol bullets for the Colt and Casull, don't know of any .452 rifle bullets. Did I miss a new rifle cartridge out there somewhere?

I'm copying the build from this thread here: h ttp://forums.gunboards.com/showthread.php?248024-Introducing-the-460-SB-Magnum only on a Savage short action. The cases blow out to .480 not .473. I seriously considered 450 Bushmaster but dies and brass are non existent at this time. Rare as hen's teeth in the US and nothing in Canada. I can find none anywhere. I could make brass from 284 Win cases but at $75/50 cases it's not worth it to me. I have tons of once fired '06 on hand. This can be loaded with 460 S&W dies. Bullets will be Hornady 240 and 300gr XTP Mag and also custom swaged 270gr bullets made from 40S&W cases. I have a few ideas to build an expander plug I'm going to try today.

I'm working on a similar project with a .458x2. It uses cut belted magnum for a straight case and a .458 bullet. That's why I'd be surprised if a regular case would work with a .452 bullet.

Well with .012" neck thickness, that's adds .024" to the .452" of the bullet making the business end 0.482". How is this going to work with a reverse tapered cartridge? I looked at that thread and it seems 30-06 brass is not the right parent cartridge for this wildcat, I would use something more appropriate.
