I borrowed this airgun from my BIL as I want to use it for grouse while I am moose hunting.

The problem is my BIL says he can't find CO2 cartridges for it. I did some google searches and I think this may be a 12 gram non-threaded cartridge. Anyone with experience out there that can confirm this?

Does anyone know where I can get these cartridges in Canada?

Thanks!

Ok - I think I found some info.

This looks like a "Healthways Plainsman Model 9401 (late model) and takes an 8 gram peowerlet cartridge.

Anyone know where to get those cartridges?

8 gram CO2 cylinders are more common for drink carbonation than airguns. I'd check with some specialty liquor stores/brewing supply stores.

Sears used to have them in the kitchen dept., for the whipped cream dispensers. Same for C-Tire.

Not worth carrying for grouse. Anemic BB gun.
I made an extended cap to use 12 gram carts in mine, before I sold it. It wasn't missed.

A good pistol to carry for grouse would be the Crosman 2240, or, if you'd rather a single pump gun, the Marksman 2004/Peeman P13/ whatever they call it now.

Both are readily available at Canadian Tire for less than a hundred dollars, and the Beeman comes with a red dot sight, great for low light conditions.

Beeman is Prod. number 75-4419
I didn't see the Crosman on the website, I don't know if it's still stockable or not. The Crosman is a single shot CO2 powered pistol, in .22 calibre.

If you don't mind doing some legwork or hardware hacking, look at the Crosman multi pump pneumatic guns in .22 cal.

Crosman Medalist, 1322, couple other names that they go by. Pretty much the same basic frame as the 2289. The current 1377 is can be converted to a .22, with a barrel and bolt from Crosman, or from any of many aftermarket suppliers. Lots cheaper to buy a used one than new, too. They don't wear out all that much.

The multipump guns are not affected by the changes in temperature like CO2 is. .22 cal pellets at 490 fps carry more energy than the .177 cal pellets at the same velocities.

I'd suggest the 2240, if you are OK with keeping the airgun warm (inside jacket) when it's colder out. The accessory shoulder stock will convert it to a carbine of sorts, too, if you wish.
