Need some help with a Belgium Double Barrel

Hey guys,

A good family friend has been given a shotgun from his mother in law. It belonged to her husband and has recently passed. It hasn't been shot in at least 30 years, and in my opinion, in pretty good shape.
No manufacturer markings except for a "made in Belgium" underneath the barrels. On top of the barrels is inscribed "Government Tested For Smokeless Powder". I have done some research on the markings below and figured its a ELG post 1923 and may have been imported by Eaton's.
Any information or history on these double barrels would be awesome.

It is a post 1924 gun made in Belgium with 2 3/4" chambers and proofed for smokeless powder. I can't make out a date cursive. It is a lower end boxlock. Don't know the maker at this point. What is that symbol or marking on the side of the action?

It's a diamond with a "E" inside

I don't think the E stands for Eatons. They usually put a complete brand name on a gun.
