Need some help with an AR build

I want to see if anyone can point me in a direction as to where i can get a 18inch midlenth gas system complete upper for an AR build. No NEAs,norincos,questars stuff preferbly americans brand.
 
That will be a tough find without going semi custom. 18" barrels can be made to run with a rifle length gas system but aren't great, and shorter barrels generally run mid-length or carbine gas. I have not seen a commercially produced 18" mid-length.

i would'vw thought that a 18" barrel running mid-length gas will run better than a rifle gas. I mean if most 18" barrel out there are made to run on rifle gas system, there has got to be a reason, maybe just like TDC said they will run more reliablely!? If thats the case, maybe i will just get a 18" barrel with rifle gas.

Another question is lets say if i did get that barrel with a rifle gas and full length A2 handguard, what length free-float should i go for? is 12" the equivlent (sp) for the rifle A2 handguard? or is it like 13.5"?

ATRS could make you a barrel, but it would not be US made. Noveske has mid-length gas systems, but I don't think there are many (any?) 18" Noveske barrels with middy gas systems here in Canada.

Only ones I know of at present which are available retail are the NEAs.
 
Thanks guys for some real good info, im thinking now that i may go with a 18" rifle gas instead, just way more option and availibilty
