hey everyone i just have a couple questions on changing part on my new ar 15. first i would like to put a quad rail on it but im not sure how long it should be...it has the M4 style barrel, front sight and handgaurd. do i just measure the length of the handgaurd?
second i would like to put a magpul CTR or MOE stock on. I have plain colapsable stock on there now. can i just take the stock off and slide on a magpul stock over the tube?

You will need to find out if you have a commercial, or mil-spec, buffer tube however. Most all aftermarket stocks come in those 2 variants, however some manufacturers only make for mil-spec tubes.

If you get the wrong one, it will not fit.

If you want to retain your front sight and delta ring and are looking for a good "drop in" solution, I would strongly recommend a Daniel Defense Omega 7.0

It will drop right in and offers a free float system and it even has built in push button swivel mounts (Available from Wolverine Supplies). You may also need some rail covers, in which case I would look at Magpul's XTM covers (Available from DS Tactical).

As for the stock you need only measure your buffer tube to find out which you have.

Here's the details:

The Magpul CTR is one of the best carbine stocks I've ever used and the cheapest place to get it is direct from Brownell's for around $85 bucks plus shipping.

Another option for looks.

Put on a low profile gas block and an oversized free floating hand guard.

that way the rail goes to the end and all you see is the flash surpressor.
