Ok so i finally got my 308 dies issue cleared up and everythings working peachy , same with my case length gauge but i found something interested when i decided to try loading a different set of cases .

first set of cases i used were federal , i full length resized 25 cases and all trimmed perfectly to 2.005" , well i found 20 winchester cases from some match ammo i shot and decided to try them as well , this is where it gets interesting .

1. The federal brass was much harder to resize than the winchester cases which i thought was odd but then

2. The winchester cases only trimmed to 2.007 , i thought my die came out of adjustment so i readjusted it , ran it back into the die , trimmed and chamfered again but nothing came off ..

My lyman manual says max case length is 2.015 " , do i really need to worry about this .002 of inch ?

And whats the deal with the federal cases being harder to resize , they also are slightly heavier ..

No worry about the length.

As to the difficulty, probably just harder metal used in the one lot. Some makers have the case thickness a bit different, too.
