Need some input

I just bought an F stamped A2 front sight base (used) off the EE and want to install it on my virgin S&J 14.5" for my M4A1 clone...

Watching the youtube how-tos i am now very nervous about this.... Does anyone have any input on how to do this easily and propperly?

You need a jig to do it properly.

yeah FSP can be a little hit and miss. I've never seen a clean easy install unless the FSP is the same manufacturer as the barrel. Might be something you want to take to a smith

Edit: Wow... I just realized I explained how to install a flash hider rather than answering the OP's question... Whatever, I'll leave the answer I gave up.

To properly install a flash hider, you need a barrel vise and a crush washer, along with the proper wrench. I made a barrel vise using a couple of blocks of wood and a table vise. It's really not that hard, you drill a large enough hole in a block of wood and then saw it in half. You then place the jig you made around the barrel and secure it in the vise. Being made out of wood, it will not mar the finish or damage the barrel, and you can't really over-tighten it as the wood will give way long before the barrel.
