Need some opinions from you AR gurus. Is the RRA 9mm AR any good?

I know jack all about the AR platform (I did sign the petition however :) )

I am thinking of trading a very nice New Edition CZ75 with a guy on here for his Rock River Arms 9mm AR. I know! It's not a .223! But I crank out 9mm almost as quickly as Blazer! So it makes sense for me.

It is a 12" barrelled model with a lower dedicated to the smaller mags... I guess that means not filled to fit the smaller mags?

In the very small amount of research I have done, it seems they can have bad jamming issues. He says she runs fine, and I take his word on that... But it this a good rifle? ... Like I said, I don't know @&$%

Cheers!

Nobody knows a thing about the Rock River Arms 9mm AR? Wow...

Any Google research says some are prone to jamming, and some aren't. I guess that's all the info I will find/need really

Not sure why people would say the RRA 9mm ( Colt pattern ) is prone " to jamming "

Only time I have ever seen FTF issues is when using a Mag Blocks that was installed improperly...you can move the blocks up or down a bit before you tighten

I have many thousands of rounds without any "jamming issues "

I have set up using Hahn, RRA and CMMG mag blocks

I use C Products , Colt and modified UZI mags and Pro Mag polymer and all run fine

If you have a dedicated lower can't see that ever being an issue

Only mod I did was to ramp the barrel so I can use a variety of aftermarket triggers ( since I use the 9mm upper on 3 different lowers )

Okay, thanks for the advice lads. If he decides he wants to trade, I will go for it :) ... He is doing some thinking on it right now... Can't blame the guy, he is offering a higher trade value at the moment.

Cheers!

There used to be quite a lot of RRA 9mm around when questar was importing them.

I don't remember hearing problems with them, and probably the reason why you can't find anything.

Most 9mm issues are created by crappy magazines

The only issue I had with my RRA 9mm upper was that it would not reliably function on ammunition with conical bullets.
Round nosed ammo... No problems.

That said... Perhaps the OAL of my conical 9mm ammo wasn't set short/long enough to work better with the RRA upper, but I never bothered to adjust it.
'Just loaded RN bullets and shot it.
