Well guys I know many are going to say just buy a SIG but guys I am on a budget and have decided after shooting a SIG 226 I really want a 9mm and not a 1911 as the SIG just feels good.

I really like the 226 but like the more compact 228 design as well, so here are my questions:

1. What has your experience been with the NP 22 and NP 34?

2. Is there a .22 rimfire conversion kit that works with the NP-22/226?

3. Is there a .22 rimfire conversion kit that works with the NP-34/228?

4. And lastly what would you chose between the two and why?

Thanks guys, going to decide this weekend so really looking forward to your responses, and I will only be choosing between these two and no others.

Randy

Go full size to start an then move to a compact.
The norincos sorta get a bad rap but they aren't half bad.

No clue about the .22 stuff. Although I would think the Sig 226 .22 conversion might fit.

Thanks, I started with a Colt Commander years ago but I really would like a .22 rimfire kit option don't think a 226 kit works on a 228?

Hi there..... Got the latest version of the Norc np-22 at Christmas, been talking about how good it is on this forum, really is a damm good pistol... I understand, again from this forum, that the sig p226 .22 caliber exchange does in fact fit the p-22.. It would be nice if magazines were easier to find, although I have scored two from the ee.. IMHO a really fantastic pistol for this or even a little more money, sold my gov model 1911 norc, and havnt looked back...if you have the funds for the sig, don't hesitate, if not get the np-22 and lots of ammo...good luck.

i picked a NP22 off a co-worker and was blown away by the fit and finish on it.
i went into it thinking it was gonna be like my Norc 1911's or my Norc M305 but its night and day different.

i wouldnt hesitate to recommend the gun to anyone.
for $350 new its a steal.

Thanks guys keep the comments flowing. :)

Did some reading and the NP-22 takes it's own mags not the 226 mags while the NP-34 can use SIG 228 mags leaning towards the 34 now.

The rimfire kit will be a big factor as well.

I've just gotten a NP34 and I really like it. I find it fits my hand a little better than the full-size pistols, although I don't find those bad either. Ideally, I'd want [at least] one of each.

My NP34 takes the 226 mags fine...they just protrude a bit at the bottom. I have no idea about the .22 conversion...isn't there another thread here about it?

You guys rock!!!!!!

Gawd I love this Forum, looks likes it's going to be a NP-34 unless something pushes me back to a NP-22.

Thanks
Randy

Just got a NP-22,

Sig 226 22lr conversion kit does not fit without modification. However the modification is very easy to do, and takes about 2 hours from start to finish.

Sig 226 magazines do not fit mine without modification. Again very easy, the slits on the magazine for the catch needs to be ground a bit so they're a little higher.

Out of those who have one, how is the np22 for grip size? I have little girly hands. Size 8.5 glove for reference.

It will be the same as the full-size Sig P226...which is to say, on the large side. I would recommend that you track down a P226 and see how it feels before you buy. I wear an XXL glove and the P226 is comfortable for me...but still feels larger than my M&P or 1911. Apparently there are Sig grips that bring the overall size down a little, but I don't know if it would help the small-handed.

Awesome ! And I thought the 226 and 228 were basically the same, but the 228 had a shorter barrel. Learn something new everyday. Guess I'll be shopping for a np-34. Hopefully the Sig 22 conversion only requires the barrel lug mod to fit.

Thanks again!
