Need some purchase advice (10/22 or sr-22 or issc mk22)

Hey everyone,

So im looking to make my first post lgr purchase and i am looking at buying a non-res tacticool .22lr. I originally wanted a flat top Mossberg tac 22 but I don't think thats going to happen any time soon. Can't find one anywhere.

I am trying to decide between pimping out my 10/22 or buying either an Sr-22 or issc mk-22.

I seem to have nothing but problems with my 10/22. Bolt locks open all the time and all too often brass gets jammed up in the breech. I am also finding it difficult to find a decent stock. Can't find any marauders or t-22 stocks. And the EE is impossible.

The sr-22 sounds decent but I think they are ugly as sin. Though I have seen nice builds. Are compatible accessories easy to come by? Could i expect it to be any more reliable than my 10/22?

I've seen half decent reviews on the issc mk-22 but someone i know at work bought one and is having a lot of fte and jamming etc.


Could anyone be so kind as to help me out with some advice on the situation?

Quite a number of people on this board have complained about the mk-22 and have said that they needed to tweak with their rifles to make them functioning to an acceptable level for their purposes.

An SR-22 has a lot of accessories out there for it. The sky is pretty much the limit. Grips, butt stocks, rail accessories, and most 10/22 accessories will fit on/in the SR-22. Although it is basically a 10/22 at heart. No difference at all. In regards to your FTEs, have you tried replacing the extractor yet? I just replaced mine with an aftermarket one and the difference was like night and day. Not a single FTE with the new extractor/spring combo last time out to the range.
 
SR22 gets my vote...

Wow, 600 for a .22? Plus have you looked into the cost of all the parts you're going to add on?
My friend bought a SR-22 after trying my mossberg. He was not impressed with the guns grouping compared to my mossberg. He then went on to buy a Dlask barrel, quad rail and covers. On top of that, he bought two 50 round drums @ $100 bucks each plus shipping. He is now into his gun for $1200 bucks.
If you read alot of SR-22 posts, this is a very commen. Think of what $800 bucks could do to a stock 10/22?
I'm into my mossberg for $275 bucks + 6 extra mags @ 25 bucks a pop.
My friend has now sold his SR-22 at a huge loss and regreats not buying a 10/22 or the mossberg.

It's very common to spend $1000 on building up a 10/22. I think some of the parts for a SR-22 have even more of a tacticool mark up.
 
I say build up the 10/22 youve got = least expensive and most rewarding. As for your stovepiping, has it been cleaned recently? It may need a cleaning or different ammo or mags. I went with an NEA-22 chassis so I could put it all together the way I want without having to pull parts off that wont get used. I wouldnt buy an SR-22 myself, I think Nordic did a poor job designing it. It uses standard free float AR handguards, but they put the top rail and buttstock waaay above bore centerlne so AR quad rails will not line up with it. You have to either buy goofy looking tall rails for the stock handguard or a pricey Dlask quad rail also sporting a goofy looking tall rail. Ive also heard the handguards dont mount very solidly on them but havent seen for myself. The Troy chassis looks to be the most well thought out design with the buttstock inline with the bore and the monolithic upper for solid optics mounting etc. I'd hold out for one of those and throw a short Dlask bbl on it personally.
