Hello all,
I shoot a benelli super black eagle 3, mostly hunt ducks, pheasants and I am a pretty decent sporting clay shooter while running the factory modified choke. On the sporting clay course i shoot about 70-75 percent. Now I know that’s not super good in comparison to some of you guys but I hit most of what I shoot at....anyways this year I decided to put my luck in on turkey hunting, watched all the YouTube videos, bought a pattern master code black turkey choke, and low and behold missed two gobblers this last few days. Both times I floating the goblers heads / necks and both times missed them. Maybe 35-45 yards. Took the gun back to pattern it and realized it’s shooting high and right. Never had an issue using a modified choke but having a major now with the super tight choke.
So I guess my questions are:
I have a 30 year old beretta over under shot gun, I know this guns pattern well, can I run my 3inch magnum loads on that gun with out fear of it exploding? While I figure out what to do with my benelli.
Or should I try to pattern the benelli with a factory full choke and compare with the code black choke?
I have another issue in that it’s relatively hard to pattern because my range is closed and gun store is sold out of turkey loads.
Please let me know what your guys think, thanks in advance.
