Need stock Recommendations

I have SOPMOD's on both of my AR's.

When I was assembling my second AR I bought a new Vltor for it. When it arrived I compared it to the SOPMOD, then sold it and purchased another SOPMOD!

The SOPMOD is a little 'spendy' but IMO a very nice stock.

Choosing the CTR over the MOE is not just about removing the extra bit of wiggle, but also if you want to run quick release sling swivels on your rifle. the CTR has ambi ones built in, the MOE doesn't. In fact, even the ACS doesn't have an ambi mount as standard. That is why I also mentioned the new STR.

As a general choice, CTRs and MOEs are becoming almost the default, with a number of manufacturers offering them as part of their lineup.

Until recently, SOPMODs were overpriced. There is a new batch that has appeared in the US from a defence contractor that is available for about the same as the CTR/ACS, not knock-offs either, as they have been examined by certain people who know about this stuff, and declared to be the real deal.

The Sopmod doesn't bite your face if you have beard. The Vltor will!

That's why Costa uses Magpul!

Costa uses Magpul b/c he's paid to. Period. If VLTOR paid him, he'd use that, and so on.

Someone suggested the UBR, and frankly, I feel that stock is better suited to a 7.26x51 AR. It is VERY well made, but weight-wise it's a brick and too heavy for anything 16" bbl or less. Unbalances the rifle.

Lightest stock you can get is a Colt fiberlite. I've never seen one break but I'm sure you could break anything if you tried hard enough.

Claven,

Maybe I should have put a smilie after my post, as you seem to have misinterpreted it's intention, which was in reference to angry's beard comment.

depending how handy you are you could gut the existing stock, modify lenth and shape to your likeing and then lay it up in carbon fibre wrap or vacu-form around your model then make entire stock from carbon fibre.
BTW.... STI's are a beautiful rifle...good choice

no kidding, I think STI is one of the most underappreciated ARs out there. No one seems to want em, despite their incredible value.

Under rated and underappreciated, awsome value for the money. I believe they will become more popular as people start useing them a bit more,I think they have only been in Canada for @10-12months now.So still abit new here but extremely popular in the USA
